The Truth About Pornography

Seeing exploitation clearly and taking grace-filled steps toward freedom

Begin here

Pornography trains the viewer to consume the bodies and vulnerability of other people for private gratification. It distorts desire, secrecy, relationships, and the way image-bearers are seen.

Freedom begins by rejecting both the lie that pornography is harmless and the lie that the struggler is beyond grace.

01

See clearly

Matthew 5:27–30

Pornography contradicts love and embodied holiness

Jesus addresses the lustful gaze at the level of the heart and calls for serious action. People are not content; they bear God’s image and must never be reduced to objects.

The production of pornography can involve exploitation, coercion, trafficking, abuse, and permanent digital harm. Private viewing participates in a wider system.

02

Tell the truth

Ephesians 5:8–14

Secrecy protects the pattern

Tell God the truth and speak with a mature, trustworthy Christian man. If a spouse has been deceived, seek wise pastoral and professional help for truthful disclosure and repair.

Never conceal illegal material, abuse, exploitation, or risk to a minor. Report and seek appropriate authorities immediately.

03

Build freedom

Romans 13:11–14

Combine heart change with concrete boundaries

Remove access, change routines, use appropriate tools, and plan for vulnerable moments. These actions do not replace grace; they give repentance practical form.

Compulsive or escalating behavior may require a qualified therapist or recovery specialist. Accountability should support honesty and agency rather than control.

Faithful response

Use the action plan.

Tell one trustworthy person the full truth appropriate to his role.

Remove the clearest point of access today.

Seek qualified pastoral and professional help when the pattern is compulsive, escalating, or damaging relationships.

Help another man

Walk with someone.

Respond without shock, jokes, or humiliation.

Protect people at risk and never keep dangerous secrets.

Keep the goal larger than abstinence: renewed worship, honest relationships, responsibility, and love.
