General Purpose / Objective of a Coach:
The purpose of a coach is to affect change in the lives of the young men that come to the site. To effect positive change in their lives we have to make a conscious effort to be an active part of all that they do here on the site, and if possible in their everyday lives.
The Mission of our coaches it is to mentor each guy that joins our site into the man who God has called them to be thru listening, discussing and advising when requested. Always being available without pushing our personal views or agendas on the guys that visit our site.
Key Expectations:
As a coach for Christian Guys, you will be expected to:
- Be men of prayer and scriptural discipline. Daily time in the word (the Bible) and prayer is essential to keep ones self focused on God.
- Be responsible for a group of randomly selected guys for you to be their contact to the website and ultimately be their mentor
- Be logging into the site on a regular basis (daily, every other day) to check in, and monitor the progress of the guy that are assigned to you.
- Be continually educating yourself thru training by various means (podcast, webcast, webinar, or self-directed web-based training or any other method used)
- Be men that lead by example by installing on your primary PC the accountable2you.com “Internet Partner” accountability software. This software monitors where you browse on the internet as well as search strings and the like, and to join the “Christianguys.org Coaches” accountability group inside your account at accountable2you.com.
- Be men of integrity and to have no outside contact with the guys unless first obtaining preauthorization from the administration of the site. This would include but not be limited to person to person email, instant messaging, or face to face meetings. If there is an emergency the coach is expected to contact the appropriate authorities as well as the administration of the site since contact originated at christianguys.org.
Recommended Experiences (but not required):
- A Bible based college education
- Ministry / Discipleship experience
Required Knowledge:
- Basic Understanding of basic principles that are obtained by using God’s Word
- Basic Understanding of what it means to mentor / guide someone
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of PC (email, web browsing, etc.)
- Basic Problem solving and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
- Ability to mentor / coach in a non-judgmental manner
- Knowledge of website and the mission of Christian Guys
- Be a self motivator
- Be dependable and consistent
- Be a good listener with being encouraging and supportive
General Information:
- Maintain ongoing contact with the Coach Coordinator – sharing concerns, highlights, or ideas.
- You must be at least 25 years of age to be a coach
- Must complete application and all screening processes
- Must attend all training sessions by website or conference call
Due to the nature of this site, and the unfortunate presence of pedophiles and internet predators, if any of these expectations are not met it will be at the sole discretion of the Christianguys.org review committee whether or not to allow a person to continue to be a coach or to remove their access as a coach and assign their “guys” to another coach.
