Well Worn Bible

This was a very common sight growing up in our home. I can’t tell you how often I see my dad reading his Bible, how many times he has read through the Bible, or how many different translations he has read. I have vivid memories of my mom reading the Bible to me while I ate breakfast getting ready for school. To this day on Christmas morning we always read the account of Jesus’ birth before opening gifts. I consider those family habits part of the legacy passed down to me.

As an individual I have some catching up to do as I have only managed to read it through the entire Bible about six times.

As leaders (at home, church, work, etc.) we should strive to emulate and encourage this behavior.
Matthew 15:18 says “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.” What you are feeding your heart matters and it will show in how you speak and act. So what are you feeding your heart?
